National Slate Museum

The National Slate Museum is located in the old Dinorwig Quarry. Take a look at the old workshops of the quarry men, and the Quarrymen's houses, talks and demonstrations including slate-splitting give you a real insight into quarry life in Wales.

Beaumaris Castle & Pier

Just 20 minutes away is the town of Beaumaris, with colourful seafront buildings and a pier that attracts many visitors for Crab fishing. Boat trips to puffin Island also run from the pier. The main feature of Beaumaris town is the castle, built in 1295 as one of the last castles built by Richard I along the North Wales coast. Just around the corner from the castle is Beaumaris gaol (jail) exactly as it was in the 1800's.
